This is the new project which is a joint undertaking by IBM and Scripps Research Institute to "check mate" infectious diseases.

So what is it actually???


IBM will provide help on genomics, computationanl biology, bio-informatics.. and Scripps the 'conventional' medical research.

As a first step they have decided to work on Avian Flu. IBM's super computer will computer all the possible combinations, variations and mutations of Influenza genome within a ultra short period which will result in complete study of all possible mutations and thus can help in preparing vaccines for all the calculated mutations. Thus hoping to find a solution for this pandemic.

The research, which should be going on for decades, will now be for years, with the help of super-computers.
